SCHNEIDER TROPHY RACE.
BRITISH GOVERNMENT
WITHDRAWS,
(TUROVON NEUTEN'S ADENOV ).
LONDON, Jan. 10.
The Government has finally de- cided not to participate in any way in the 1931 Schneider Trophy Race.
Thus the Trophy's defence, esti- mated at £80,000, will devolve upon the Royal Aero Club or private enterprise, and as it is unlikely that the sum will be raised, the Trophy, in accordance with the rules, will be handed to Italy, from whom Britain, won it in 1927,
France and Italy will be the sole competitors.
The Trophy would have become Britain's permanently if she had proved victorious in 1931, as she has already won two successive con-
festa.
