THE AMUSING MEMORIES OF MR.
SEYMOUR HICKS.
STORIES OF EMINENT VICTORIANS.
GREAT NOVELIST'S OPINION OF YOUNG ACTRESSES.
The time is probably far distant much. Most of tatin are vulgar | when Mr. Seymour Hicks will feel young ladies, who laugh from their impolled to write a full autobio stomacha": graphy, for he is still the very per- sonification of youth, But from time to time ho lifts a corner of the curtain and gives us a tantalis ing pcep into a store of memories collected in over 40 years of public life. In "Between Ourselves " (Cassell, 108. ed.), the curtain is lifted a little higher, perhaps, than

The account of the trial of Wilde, at which Mr. Hicks was present, is written with remarkable dramatic force, and comment is both apt and restrained.
