EVIDENCE REGARDING SERGT. POST'S CRASH,
ALLEGATIONS OF DELAY.
--The motor cyclo accidunt in Lower Albert Road on Christmas Day, as a result of which Sergeant J. J. Post, of the Traffic Department of the Police Force, lost his life, was mentioned at the Central Magis tracy yesterday, when a Coroner's inquent into the Sergeant's death was conducted by Mr. R. E. Lind

The first witness called was Dr. I. Nowton, who stated that Bergt. Post, was admitted to Government Civil Hospital in an unconscious stats in the afternoon of Christ mas Day. He was deeply un- conscious until the following day when he became semi-conscious," added the doctor,
Witness weat on to say that Sergt. Post could not say anything coherent. He was hoard to mutter to himself while he was semi-con- acious, "I spoke to him and called him by name," said the doctor, but he gave no response to my questions." Sergt. Post died at 2.10 am on the morning of the 26th. The post-mortem examination showed n'fractured bass of the skull and considerable laceration of the brain.

The passing away of the old year and the ushering in of the new was observed in the Colony with much merry-making at private residences and hotels. Now Year's Eve, per- haps more than at any other time, provides an opportunity for large dinner and dance, parties in gaily decorated surroundings, and the customary boom of fre crackers announcing the dawn of another year is a solemn occasion when sincere greetings are exchanged. Ideal weather accompanied the celebrations on this ocension.
