BIG DIVIDENDS PAID.
[BY MORNING DEW"]
Apollo, Mr. Chan Tin Sion's crackerjack, which held two records until Saturday, added further to his laurels at the twelfth "Extra" Race Meeting when ho accounted for a seven fur- Ibags handicap in record time in spite a weight of 171 pounds on the saddle.
Favourites, and outsiders shared the honours, the biggest dividend paid being by Peppermint (43-1) when he won a mile and a quarter race from a field of seven " classy" contenders, including Sitting Bull. King's Counsel paid over 90-1 in the third race, Andantino paid over 10-1 while
Apollo was an odds-on-favourite. Marquis Hall in the opening event paid almost 8-1.
There were several very close finishes and more than once the result was open up to the last minute. This was particularly noticeable in the race in which Peppermint won, for there were six ponies in a line when half way up the straight, Incidentally, an Inquiry was held into the riding in this race and, as a result, a general caution was issued to jockeys.

An inquiry into the riding was !. held after this race as an allegation of bumping was made to the ste wards. As a resalt, it is learned, a general warning was given out. The allegation of bumping, it is only fair to add, was not made against the winner or the placed ponies,
