ENGLAND'S -COAL STRIKE

DANGER.

To-day, however, the stark fact remains that the miners are not well paid. Many are on short time, and unemployment is rife. Their natural dissatisfaction has been ax. ploited by the revolutionary leader, Mr. A. J. Coox, the evil gonius of the industry for the past ten years Mr. Coos, who has managed to secure a dominant position in the Minors Federation, is the friend of prominent revolutionary officials in | Russia and he has been entertained and féted in the Soviet Republic. His frank object is to set up a Soviet régime in England, and he is using, as he has persistently used, the Miners' Federation for this end. His method is to bankrupt Eng land, or what he himself calls "the capitalist system."

It is inconceivable that the nation will allow this strike, any, more than

it allowed the General Strike. The economic situation is too serious to permit of this folly. If the present Government cannot bring masters and men together, another will have to take its place. A huge com. munity, well-disciplined and law It is profoundly to be hoped that abiding, like that of Britain, has the threatened coal strike in Eng power of self-protection. Masters, land will be averted.
