A fragment broken from the bone button of an overcoat found at the scene of a safo-blowing at St. Alert, near Edmonton, Alberta, four months ago, was responsible for the conviction and sentence of Joseph Barber, alia, Barberro, to five years imprisonment when ho appeared before Mr. Justice Ives in the Edmonton Supreme Court.

The little piece of bone formed the clue which definitely linked Barber with the burglary, and was the basis of the case of the Crown against him.

Detectives of the Alberta Pro- vincial Police told of inspecting the scene of the burglary and of finding the broken bulton beside the wreck ed safe..

Barber was later arrested nt Calgary, and in a motor-cnr used in his wanderings over Atharta was a broken button. The piece of but ton found at the scene of the safe- blowing fitted exactly that, found in the car.
