The week under review has been remarkable
the sensational for jump in China Lights on Sottle- ment Day. On Monday shares were freely offered in the market 925.10 and $23.20, but on Settle- mont day' buyers were early in the market at $25,73 with no sellers. During the course of the morning shares weal past the $20 mark, and went on until 820,75 for cash was reached. The market was then feverish with excitement, and it was rumoured that the shorts" were covering at the last moment.
While the cash rate advanced, the opportunity was taken to do forward business, and several tens of thousands of shares must have

NCSÍPHREYS-These shares also rose in sympathy with the rest of the market, and the improved rate of $13.50 was reached.

Green Island Cecient shares he gan to move upward on the day following settlement, and although at the opening of the week they as high stood at 81.00, on Friday Bs $19.75 for cash was touched;-; although at this rate the market had more sellers than buyers. The week closed with quotations at about 818.30 buyers.
In this stock also, a large for ward business was done, and the December Settlement is becoming more and more interesting as it may resolve itself into a struggle between "bulls" and "boare."
In sympathy with these advances several other stocks have risen dur- ing, the week, as will be seen in the fuller and more detailed report
below.

CHINA LIGHTS As stated earlier in this article, this stock had a spectacular jump during the beginning of the "weak, but gradu ally slid back to 820.25. was persistent rumour in the niar kot of now issue being shortly made known to the public. A very extensive business in forward shares was done, and as much as $27.05 was paid for December delivery.

CEMENTS--A large business done here, and the rate went up to $18.75 for cash shares, but towards the close of the week things' ensed off somewhat and only $18.30 was being paid for, cash shares.
PROVIDENTS - There shares were asked for at 85.33. New shares have buyers at 82.50.
HONG KONG ELECTRICS— These shares have also firmed up, and touched as high as 870.75, but the demand appears still unsatisfied

HONG KONG TRAMS-Hore again a rise has to be recorded, and shares went up to 819,20,
ROPES-Small lots can probably find buyers at $10.08, but otherwise buyers are not keen.
HONG KONG CONSTRUC- TIONS-There are buyers at 85.00, although at one time sules at 85.40 were reported.

RONG BANKS-This tock touched $1,500 during the week, and at the close there were still a low buyers in the market.
UNIONS-There is not much change to report, as business was dono at $447 to $147.50, A further demand set in at the close of the week, and probably 8450 will be paid this week.
UNDERWRITERS CHINA These shares have buyers at $2.80, and a fairly good business was done at this figure.
