"Lawrence Tibbett," the famous operatie baritone, minkes his bow in talking pictures in "The Rogue Song," Metro-Goldwyn - Mayer's operatie drama, which is showing at i 'the Queen's Theatre. Lionel Barry' more, who is also a musician and composer, directed the production.
Ride'em, Cowboy!"
You will whoop with joy when you see and hear the cavalcadó of cowboys galloping over the plaina in Montana Moon," the first musical Western ever screened, which opens tomorrow nt the Queen's Theatre. with Joan Craw- ford in the starring role. A beauti- ful picture, this. With the great, rugged open spaces for a' back- ground, it brings rate pictorial charm to the screen, and provides a setting of grandeur to Miss Craw- ford's excellent performance,
As the city flapper who gets her man out where the West begins, Jonn is more appealing than' over before, refreshing in the out-of- door atmosphere, and completely | captivating in a splendid portrayal | of the role. Johnny, Mack Brown, who plays opposite, scores again as a consistently fine player.
Not the least in this tuneful romance of Montana is the comedy interest injected by that side, splitting team of Cliff (Ukelele Ike) Edwards and Benny Rubin. You certainly remember them Iron "Marianne. Well, here they are as cowboya (il you can imaginė that) and what Benny doesn't know about horses Cliff doesn't know Bither. With Karl Dane as their foil, Cliff and Benny win the gold-plated pitchfork for comedy honours,
Joan sings even more delightfully than in "Untamed," and the sur voice when he sings a plaintive prise of the picture is Johnny's ballad of the plains. The music is
something new in screen entertain- splendidly arranged, and the num bor sung by the cowboy chorus is ment.

With very little screen experi- euce, Miss Clyde, was called to R.K.O. Stadio for a short number
"Start melody making, too, very young. Tap a little phrase and ask for a tapped answer. It is no good giving children staves, pencils, and plenty of indiarubber. The reply must come spontaneously by rhythmic means, straight from the heart, Staff notation reading should started as early as possible, and with the aid of the solfa in scale-in vise passages. It is no good wait until children are eleven or twelve to start staff singing in great batches. We delude ourselves into Her first screen engagement was thinking all the children are sight in a bit with Moran and Mack singing, whereas only about three in "Two Black Crows." To avoid this we must see part in "Side Street" with Radio Lionalise our sight-roading work, Pictures and far-sighted studio exe otherwise it is futile."
cutives signed her to a long-term contract.
