INDIAN RECREATION CLUB'S "DOUBLE.”

SPLENDID WINS OVER UNIVERSITY IN BOTH DIVISIONS OF LEAGUE.

WICKETS ALMOST PERFECT: A BATSMAN'S PARADISE.

Opening their league programme in both divisions against the University on Saturday, the Indian Recreation Club scored "double," winning both the matches by the margin of eight wickets. This early success will no doubt be very encouraging to the Indians who promise to do well in the battler for the cham pionship honours. this sonson.

,,

The wicket was again tho batsman's paradise and, although several high individual scores were registered, some of the bowlers returned very creditable analysis.

Apart from the Indian-University games, no other lengue, matches were decided though there were no less than six friend- lios. A. T. Lee and F. J. Remedios were joint highest-scorers of the afternoon with 77 runs each while the most successful bowler was F. M. el Arculli who took six wickets for 17 runs.

The Indian Recreation Chub storted their league programme in fine style when they beat the Uni versity by eight wickets at Pokfu-

lumi.

Taking rat knock, the under- graduates found they had to contend with some difficult bowling with the result that they were all out for 102 runs. Nido and Sulieman saved

→ them from an entire collapse by making 23 runs each, Pereira, the IR.C. fast bowler, took three wickets for 23 runs, while Madar had 2 for 2 and Abdul-Curreem 2 for.1-4.

Faced with this small total, the Indians had little difficulty in getting the runs and wiped off the deficit with eight wickets in hand. Madar played good cricket for his 44 runs while Q. Ismail helped with an invaluable 32 not out.
