CANTON, Oct. 14, The people in Canton, especially those who received their education in the so-called modern schools whore American or European educa. tional methods are used, are fast carrying out the ideas of the West in regard to divorce.
According to the statistics of the City Court, which were made public to-day, there were 88 cases of divorce during the first half of this your. This figure is a big increase over that of inst year, according to the judicial authorities.

An order for the confiscation of the Inrgo haul of heroin made re- cently by Revenue Officers on the a Hilda was made yesterday by Mr. R. E. Lindsell at the Central Magistracy, when an application in this connection was made by Mr. H. A. Taylor.
In the course of his statement, Mr. Taylor said that he went on board to conduct a search. Hidden in certain cases containing tinned meat and sheet, glass were 424 kilo grams (about 933 pounds) of heroin. The plate glass was consigned from Trieste to Shanghai and the tinned meat to Dalny (Dairen).
No one has come forward to claim the drug, which will in all probability be sent in its entirely to the British Government.
