The following comment upon this season's homeside football teams gives some interesting details of personalities and prospects:-
Birmingham are in much the same position as tho Villa Thoy have talent galore, and have only to develop it to be formidable in The League.

"I am not saying a word against those people, all good friends of mine, but they are much less ama.. teur in tennis than Charles Buchan, J. B. Hobbs, or Willio Smith.
And what about such incidents ns.we all know of, when players are transported from London to a northern town in privata care, pers up and fed free, given dinners, and dances, etc., etc. But if the pro- maters were to give them, railway there would be no end of a tickets and pay their hotel billa, What an absurd position in a row

so and everything points to another very successful season.
The all-day match between Kow. Joon Cricket Club and the Yolun teors, which was to have taken place on the Navy ground fast Sunday, was put off because of the rain, while the same happened to the game at Pokfulam arranged in honour of Dr. M. B. Osman by the University Union Cricket Club. On Saturday, however, the Univer sity and Indian Recreation Club seconds played off their friendly fixture (on a matting wicket) de spite the fact that rain was coming down continuously. I was told by ons of the players that it was ex- tremely difficult to get a proper grip on the ball with the result that there were more wides than usual.
*
The Varsity seconds are unusual- ly weak this seison. They sorely need a couple of good, reliable, bowlers and a few more men who can be relied upon to make runs, Their fielding, however, is just as good as ever, and in this depart ment of the game, I doubt whether any other team in the league with the possible exception of Club de Recreio, can be compared with them: Hiptool has gone up to the fast eleven this year as a result of which K. T. Loko is leading the side. Loke has been playing re- 'gularly for the past few seasons, and at he has a crowd of thoroughly good sports backing him up, they should have quite a successful time.
H. Normanbhoy is considered to be: their "best all-rounder, and though he did not do particularly well on Saturday, I expect he will como off Inter in the season. „An- other goon man they have is A. T. Normanbhoy, who, I believe, is a cousin. As for as I remember, A.T." was not much of a bowler last dasan, bait from what I have seen of him so far, he seems to have como an tremendously.
