A storm is raging over Great Britain to-day, and very rough seas are raging round the coasts
The gale began yesterday evening and a wind velocity of el miles on beur was experienced at Valencia, south-east Ireland, and not much less at Scilly Isles and along the English Channel.

the gale grew worse, and in the Straits of Dover was said to be as bad as any ex perienced there for some years,

This morning many people at Folkestone watched the big Im perial Airways liner fighting her way inland. She was at times a parently held stationary by the terrific wind, but arrived safely at Lympne.

It constitutes a remarkable human and scientific document.
The diary consists of 142 pages of astronomical, chronometric, and observations, and meteorological shows that on arrival at the Arctic regions the severe weather evident ly weighted out the balloon with the result that the gondola was repeatedly dragged and jolted over the ice, completely exhausting the inmates.
