OFFICIAL KILLED..

TRAGIC ENDING TO FARE WELL DINNER PARTY,

What at first was a happy gather- ing of friends at the Tokyo Hotel ended tragically carly on Sunday morning when Mr. K. Kitazawa, -one of the chancellors attached to the Japanese Consulate, lost his lite by falling from the second foor verandah to the street below.

No official details of the sad affair were available up to a late hour last night, but our representative was informed by the manager of the Hotel that Mr. Kitazawa was the guest of honour at a farewell dinner party which sat down to the meal at about 7.30 p.m. on Satur-

day

Everything went along happily

S18-A dispatch which appeared in the Hong Kong papers in May of this year told of the proposed legislation by the Government in Australia making it necessary for all Chinese living in that country to have their finger prints taken and to make it impossible for Chinese now living there to have their wives migrate to Australia in the future.

On the arrival of the police, shortly after they had been inform ed of the proceedings, strife was discontinued, and the contractor'a men were called off by a representa- tive" of the company, after he had been advised by the police. During the day nothing of note occured.

Another Attempt.

It is understood, however, that the Russians have been instructed to proceed with the demolition of the buildings this morning and that police protection will be afforded. Precautionary mobiliza- tida by four stations has been

ordered and the Reserve Unit is to stand by.
