Sir,-You don't tell me the arti- dle published about the reception giver Miss Johnson was written by Gordon Beckles-I'd bet my bottom dollar that some viperish female (over thirty-five, who was not ask ed to the party) undertook the job for him from "potes made on the spot.
It is all too paltry and spiteful fer any man to have indited, and I think will do your newspaper a great deal of harm in the eyes of the public, who will merely put the Miss paltry references, such 33 Johnson looking like "a City typist at tea. down to journalistic jealousy.
I like my "Express" always, and am deeply sorry you have seen fit to publish auch an ebullition of obvious venom-Yours faithfully, B. "B. SMITE. The Hydro, Buxton, Derby

The reception of the members at Karlsruhe on their arrival by train from Stras- bourg was a remarkable one. They were met at the station with bands and banners by the members of the City Council, representatives of local workers' organisations, and of the German Youth Movement, to the number of many hundreds.
