SOME NEW SHOES.
Shoes are more variegated than eyen, but on less fantastic lines. There is much less gold and glittery but a good deal of care da exercised with regard to colour schemes. With the many scarlet, purple, and damson dresses now, being worn shoes are made uut to mater but to harmonise. This is achieved by setting slips of satin ör crêpe de chiar together in long, sweeping Enes and binding them round the edges, perhaps with gold leather. This must only constitute a very narrow band, so that it does not overshadow the satin. Some of the colourings are charming and very, rich in tone, and they make the foot look smaller because of a sug. gestion of shading about them. The seama inay also be cutlined with a tiny gold edge, but this must be no more than a suggės- tion. The plain red shoe vogue. which recalled Hans Anderson's fairy tales, is somewhat on the wane. It has been discovered that. red shoes do not look particularly well with Desh-coloured stockings, and since no one is willing yet to give up desh-coloured stockings black and dark blue are liked more. At the same time there is a dis- 'tinet tendency toward stockings to mantch the dress. Since so little of the stocking shows now this is an almost logical consequence,
All- blue dress and legs would have been monotonous with the short frocks, but with the longer varieties and their varied skirts it becomes per- missible again. Black shoes very often have the little gold rim which scema inevitable just now, and it is even found sometimes on shoes of white suède or other leather. With black dresses and flesh-colour- ed stockings bright purple shoes- are sometimes. worn. They must be of crepe de chine or of satin used en the wrong side..
