SANITARY BOARD
MEETING.
BONE BOILING TRADE AT
KENNEDY TOWN. -
MR. LO'S QUESTIONS ANSWERED.
At the fortnightly meeting of the Story Board which was held at the Post Office Building yes terday, . M. K. Lo asked a number of questions regarding the business of bone-boiling which is being conduced at certain premises in Kennedy Town. He enquired whether it word lead to the crea tion of insanity and unhealthy conditions for ships and firms in the vicinity, and whether it was a faet, that the busyess caused a noxious odour to adjacent s shops and premises.
Among the replies gin by "Mr. G. R. Sayer, the Chairman, it was stated that there was no vidence that the premises mentionel were in an insanitary "condition. There was, however, a natural presump- fion that the amenities of a dis- triot in which offensive trades were permitted would be less than those of a district from which auch trades Fere excluded.
The Chairman also noted the sug gestion of allotting a separate site for those who wished to carry on
the trade.
Mr. Lo asked-
Q.-Is the Hend of the Sanitary Department aware that shops and firms in the vicinity ofl Nos. 27 to 39, North Street, Kennedy Town, have com- plained of the nuisance caused to such shops, and premises by reason of the business of bone-boiling and storage being carried on at the same premises?
