The Mongolian and Tibetan Affairs Commission recently ceived a report to the effect that the Government of Outer Mongolia has been incited by the Soviet Government to invade Chine Pro per and that Bolshevik propaganda was being circulated among the Mongolian people, who were being urged by the propagandists to sever all connection with China and establish a republican government of Mongolia.

TIETSIN, August 15. - The closing of the British Cigar- ette Company's premises was com pleted yesterday and the work of all the departments was suspended.

Hitherto there has been no trou ble from the workmen, who, the Company state, understand that the situation is unavoidable, but the Chinese authorities stationed extra police in the vicinity of the com- pound to guard against any un toward incident.

The matter was telegraphically reported to Yer. Hsi Shan, but no reply has been received.

RuGay, August 14. Seven and three-quarter hours after leaving St. Huber's Air Port, Montreal, on her homeward flight, the airship R.100 passed over Anti- cosa Island at the mouth of the St. Lawrence River.

The distance between Montreal

and Anticosti Island is 540 miles in a straight line, which makes the speed of the airship little under 70 miles an hour.

Eighty Miles An Hour. Later & message from R.100, how. aver, announced that the speed had been increased to 80 miles an hour.

The .weather conditions ATE favourable for a quick trip across the Atlantic. The Air Ministry states that the winds are testerly along the whole route. The average speed of the winds at 2,000 feet is about 20 to 30 miles per hour along the western half of the route and 50 miles along the eastern half. LONDON, August 14. The R. 100 airship, with a follow- ing wind and clear skies, is flying homewards at the rate of 75 miles an hour. It is expected that she will reach Cardington in "55 hours, thus establishing Atlantic record.

An official communiqué describes the situation as one of considerable gravity and danger. ·

It says that the raiders are pro- fiting by the high crops to elude the military forces. Their total strength is now about 1,200, moving rapidly in small gangs about the ravides and walled gardens.

Military action is being taken, but is difficult while the crops are high. They are undoubtedly receiving food and shelter from the villagers, who join them whenever there is any prospect of loot.

Troops in the Peshawar and Kobat district are in ample strength and are fully prepared for all eventualities.
