Brooklyn's Happy Day. Brooklyn's supremacy in the National circuit was strengthened when the Dodgers took two games from the Phillies at Philadelphia, by 9 to 3 and 9 to 4, which raised the leaders' percentage to .612, "as compared with Chicago's .386 and New York's .551. In each of the, two games, the Phillies got only nine hits, the Dodgers making 17 in the first and 14 in the second.
The Giants, playing on their home field, trimmed the Boston Braves by 3 to 2 in & game marred by three errore by the Braves and two by the
Giants.
With each team making mine hits, the Pirates, playing at Pittsburg, nosed out the St. Louis Cardinals by 6 to 3.
