SPORTS NOTES AND COMMENTS,

** BROADCASTER".]

Although this is not the senson to write racing notes, I feel aure that racegoers will be pleased to bear that the work of widening the race track has been making rapid progress and the turf over the last quarter mile is in excellent condi- tion. The narrow strip near Black Rock has also been widened, and in future it is likely that half mile races will not give our starters Bo much worry. Taken all in all, there is an agreeable surprise"waiting at Happy Valley for racegoers when the racing season resumes.
