Previous to that there had been an assign ment of the property by the father to himself under another name and his son ng joint-tenants. A sum of $16,000 was stated to have pars" cd as the consideration in the deed of assignment, but plaintiff stated in evidence that no money was ac- tually paid.

The appeal is against the judg ment of Sir Henry Gollan, who'or dered the first defendant to restore the property to the plainiff. fres of the mortgage for $25,000.
Mr. H. G. Sheldon, who is for the appellant, continued to cîte Hame authorities and submitted that the plaintiff was stopped by his own-banget-Counsel in the course of his arguments referred to the assignment dead where it was stated that $16,000 had passed as consideration, which granted to the son a right to part of the prp party.

CURIOUS SEQUEL TO LOCAL BAN.
An interesting sequel to the local baw on the importation of Mexi can dollars was revealed in the Chinese Chamber of Commerce yesterday when ♫ petition from. Cheung Kee, a well-known, firm of money changers, was read.
According to the petition, the Chamber's assistance was invoked in connection with a case of silver dollars which was being imported by Cheang Kee. Owing to the local order against Mexican dei ars, the case of money which ar eived here on July 17 was not al- lowed entry"
