Lands, Hotels and Buildings.- Hong Kong Lands show renewed strength and a large business was done in this stock at various rates up to $86. The market closed with buyers at 8811. This Company has declared an Interim dividend of $2 per share payable on August 6. Hong Kong and Shanghai Hotels bayc fuctuated hetween $11.53 and $11.70. Realtys after having touch- ed 89.30, are now enquired for at 89. Humphreys Estates at $10.50 continue neglected.

Cotton Mills-Ewos were realis ed early in the week at Tls. 11.60 but owing to the trade depression in the North, the market has since weakened and business was done at the close at Tla 10.80. Shang- hai Cottons as Tia 73 are un- changed.

GREAT BRITAIN'S BAN ON

AMERICAN APPLES.

WASHINGTON IN SEARCH OF MODIFICATIONS.

Washington, July 13The State Department announced to-day that officials have begun conversations with Great Britain as to the pos- sibility for modifications of Bri- 'tain's recent ban on certain grades of American apples.

Col. Henry L. Stimson, Secret ary of State, has sought to impress upon the British Embassy the plight of American 'apple growers in several states.

Meanwhile the Ambassador, Gen- eral Charles G. Dawes, is carrying on similar conversations in London.

Koenigsberg July 12.-The East Prussian TESTICIDE LIND entered into a contract with the London branch of Armour & Co. by which the latter firm under- takes the preparing and sale in England, Ireland and the British colonies of a yearly contingent of approximately 200,000 pigs from East Prussia.

American Tel. & Tel. gained two points to close at 210; Internation. af Tel. & Tel. was up 1 to 43; Radio Corp. was up three points to 39, Pacific Lighting was up to 75: Southern California Edison gained to close at 37); Consolidat- ed Gas was up 24 to 1091; Colum hia Gas gained 13 to close at 63; and Commaxealth & Southern was up a quarter to 14.

Gains by Motors. General Motors gained. a point to close at 428; Chrysler was up a point to 20; and Packard was up a quarter to 133. Anaconda Cop- per gained to close at. 491. Par- amount-Publix Corp, was up to 584 Hershey Chocolate jumped 43- to 03.

Business for the half-day session. mounted to a total of 906,100 shares.

4 MILLION YEN SMUGGED OUT.

Tokyo, July .13.---Some Yen 4,000,000 in gold specie have been imported into this country from Shanghai within the recent month. This is due to the manipulations of Chiense profiteer, in Kobe who secretly smuggled the gold out, breaking the export embargo or dinances of China. It is now cal- culated that the total sum of profit thus secured by the Chinese "mer- chants will amount to some Yen 400,000.
