DISTRICT WATCHMAN'S WIFE VICTIMIZED.
The oft-performed banknote trick,
by means of which"ignorant people are generally induced to part, with their valuables for a bundle of worth- less paper, was successfully carried put in Queen's Road Central on Wednesday.
ト
The victim, according to a report made to the Police, was the wife of a district watchman, and she lost money and jewellery to the extent of 390. She left this in the posses sion of a stranger who had entrust ed her with a parcel of banknotes to take to a money changer. Needless to add, the parcel contained waste paper only, and the stranger could nowhere be found when the dis- covery was made.

"Ladies of the Mob" at Majestic.
"Ladies of the Mob is the first serious melodrame undertaken by Miss Bow since she became Paramount star. It shows her as the sweetheart and wife of a savagely successful bank robber and depicts her efforts to get him to go straight and to keep him straight. TO-DAY & TO-MORROWt is "the woman's side of the
underworld," and gives Miss Bow. a distinctly new type of role with- out detracting from her unique personality.

The Stadio Murder Mystery " Never before have mystery stopies been so popular and The Studio Murder Mystery will do much to sustain and increase that interest. The all-talking picture opened at the Central Theatre last night for a three days' run.
From
the first breath-taking scenes in the dark, shadowy studio, threatening the" lives, of six of Hollywood's most interesting per sonages... The Studio Murder Mystery
holds the interest at a high tension that is only relieved when the final climax reveals the solution of the "clever plot. --Many mystery stories have gripped the public imagination but none more thoroughly than The Studio Murder Mystery in sparkling action, and thrilling dialogue.
The plot and setting of the story give plenty of opportunity for ab- serving the processes used in the production of all-talking picturës, The sequences, taken on actual sound-stages, are intensely interest ing to all who have observed the re- sults of the new era in motion pictures from the outside. This is
inside stuff" worth seeing.
