TONG KA WAN.
OPENING CEREMONY
POSTPONED.
(FROM OUR OWN CORRESPONDENT.]
CANTON, July 11. Owing to certain arrangements not being ready, the Committee for the Development of Tong Ka Wan into a world duty-free port has extend ed the date from July 20 to August 3 for the opening ceremony, after which actual construction will take place.
According to the Committee, the recent continual Feavy rain at Tong Ki Win has hindered much of the preparations in progress. The roads are very bad, and the ground is muddy and slippery. All this made it necessary to post
pone the opening ceremony to two weeks later. A circalar notice to this effect has been sent out to Mr.
Sun Fo, Mr. Wu Teh Shing, General Chang Wai Cheung and ather prominent officials at Nan king, who are directly connected with the Tong Ka Wan develop ment scheme. These gentlemen are expected to return to Canton and take an active part in the opening
eremony at Tong Ka Wan.
Thousands of prominent people from all parts of China have been cordially invited to attend the pening ceremony. The 5.5. Venezia
