BREAKS MURDOCH'S RECORD IN SECOND TEST AT LORD'S.

AUSTRALIA MAKING UP FOR POOR SHOWING IN THE FIRST MATCH.

(THROUGH RETTER'S AGENCY.]

LONDON, June 30,

A feature of the second Test is the brilliant batting of Don Bradman, who, continuing his innings of 153 runs not out at the close of play on Saturday, went on to give another polished ex- hibition when play was resumed at Lord's to-day. He got his runs at a steady rate and reached his 200 mark after being at.

Then a little while later, he the wickets for, exactly four hours. scored a single off Hammond and totalled 212 runs, breaking Mur- doch's record for the highest individual scare in Test matches in the Old Country, which stood unbeaten since 1881, by a single. Bradman was apparently overjoyed, and acknowledged the frantic cheering of the crowd, almost daneing with delight.

Allan Kippax supported his State mate in splendid fashion, and up till the lunch interval had scored 65 runs not out, bring- ing off some beautiful shots in the process.

Bradman's share at this stage was 231, and he locked like staying in for a long time still!

The telegraph" now showed 543 runs for the loss of only two wickets, exactly 100 runs, being added to Saturday's score without further loss.

These two batamen adopted the tactics taker. by Woodfull and Ponsford early in the innings, and wore down the bowling be. fore play was adjourned for lunch, the scores e till then being:-
