New York, June 21.-When bears

on the New York Stock Exchange launched an attack to-day, prices declined, says the daily review of the Dow Jones Financial News Agency.

There was simultaneously a sharp decline in both wheat and cotton, on the commodities market.

Although support was manifest on the stock market near the noon close

after the regular Saturday half-day session, it was not sufficient to coun- teract the earlier damage.

Selling increased steadily through out the session, the total of sales anting to 1,906,610 shares. 1.8. Steel was a special target and it closed at 1331, down 27 from yesteday and 3 from Thursday's close. The Dow Jones industrial average for 30 selected įsaurs, was off 6.69 for the day.

Wheat reached the lowest point in the past 13 years, providing a dis- couraging commodity influence upon prices of stocks.

Declines were general, Eastman Kodak continuing on the toboggan with a close of 185 as compared with 1923 yesterday and 205 Thurs day. Westinghouse closed at 10. of 33 from Friday and 103 fron Thursday. Du Pont glosed nr 104,. down 41. American Can closed at 110% down 52. General Electric cloard at 664, down 33. United Air- craft closed at 474, down 2 while Curtis Wright coimau was off an eighth to American Tobacco " closed down four to 923 and Liggett & Myers "B" was off to

SILK WORKERS.

DISPUTE SETTLED BY KUOMINTANG,

A strike has been declared by the female workers of the silk filatures in the Shuntuk district, the largest silk-producing area in Kwangtung, where tens of thousands of women and girls earn their living in this manner.

According to the Chinese Press, the female workers of the Shy King Filature in Sha Kino Village re- cently demanded the dismissal of the foreman on account of his alleged oppressive acts; they aleo demanded an increase in their wages under the pretext of the high cost of living. These demands were refused and a strike ensued; the workers of other filatures striking in sympathy.
