DRESS MATTERS OF

IMPORTANCE.

We are having a busy time now- n-days, for we have to plan our summer wardrobes and fashions, are so attractive this season that it is very hard not to exceed our dress allowances.

The sudden vogue for capes, is really rather extraordinary. The designers have tried to bring them into fashion so uften and have failed. Now they have suddenly and an overwhelming success, and quite half the frocks and coats you see are cut with capes, Sometimes these expes are shart and are call ed cape collars, at other times they are really long capes hanging down

below the waist.

For the evening, nothing is smarter at the moment than a short jacket which fits the figure closely

Last year we were only allowed to wear sleeveless frocks or frocks which had wrist-length sleeves. We may still wear these, but we now have a third alternative in the frock with the short or elbow-length sleeve. These short-sleeved dresses have already become very popular.

The newest washing silks are made with check and plaid designs, which are nech smarter this season with stripes. Many washing frocks are cut with bolero bodices, which give them quite a formal air, and they are finished at the waist with the stitched belts which are so fashionable in Paris,
