PHILHARMONIC - SOCIETY'S

COMING VENTURE.

Although December is a long way off, the Committee of the Phil harmonis Society have not been idle, and after giving much serious consideration to different operas, which it is possible to preduer, have decided, partly on the score of expense, to repeat The Yeomen of the Guard" which many of the

public will remember was produced by the Society in 1924. Mr. F. Mason, A.R.C.P., LT.CL..organist of St. John's Cathedral, has accept- ed the post of hon. musical director, and rehearsals will probably con- mence early in August.

We also understand that His Honour Sir J. H. Kemp, K.C., C.B. E., has accopted the post of President of the Society, rendered vacant by Professor Brown having left for England on long leave.

A sub-committee has also been constituted to explore the possibili- ties of broadcasting by the Society, and it is hoped that members will make a generous response to a com- munication which will be issued shortly by the sub-committee in this connection.

Dr. C. E. Medical College. The bureau is

the only institation of its kind in China for the manufacture of vac cines and sera. During Dr. Lim's term of service, the entire plant worth nearly a quarter million dollars, has been entirely reorganis ed and enlarged so that the bureau is now in a position to cope with the increased demand for its pre- parations which, since the drop in the value of silver, are taking the place of imported biológical pro- duets.

Recently the bureau hs, supplied thousands of doses of tetanus anti- toxin to the military base hospitals, and thus will be instituted for the Erst time in the army medical his tory of China the humanitarian side of warfare in preventing the development of, lockjaw, a fatal disease among wounded soldiers. During this summer, the bureau will also supply the city of Shang- hai with sufficient vaccines for the immunization of a million people against cholera.

Peterman's Roach Food, extermi- nates every roach in your house.

It entices roaches from their hiding places. They carry it on their legs and bodies back to their nests. They wriggle over all the others there, over their young and their eggs.

Every one dies and disintegrates. No odour. Nothing is loft but a little dry dust.

Don't try to fight roaches with a spray. No spray can possibly reach the roaches, the young and the eggs far behind the baseboards and under the floors,

Only the right powder can do that. Peterman's Roach Food is the right powder.
