"I don't suppose you keep any thing so civilized as dog biscuits in this one-horse town, do you?" the tourist snarled.

Little Betty came dabing "into the kitchen from the garden and ran, breathless with excitement, to her mother.
"Ob, Mummie," she cried, "do come and look what I've done!"
Wondering what new mischief the child had got into, her mother followed obediently.
"There," said little Betty proud- ly, "I pulled up that big weed all by myself!"
Her mother looked sadly at the only hollyhock in the garden.
"You are strong," she ventured at" last.
"Yes, aren't I?". exclaimed the child more proudly than ever. "And the whole world was hanging onto the other end of it."
The pale, nervous-looking man was applying for a job.
"I think I shall be able to suit ali your requirements, sir," he said."
The manager shook his bead.
I'm afraid I cannot take you," he replied. "You see, I'm want- ing a single man,"

PRIVATE AERODROME,
CINEMA AND SPEED CAR.
During the absence of the Prince of Wales on his hunting trip in Africa a new house and a new car has been awaiting him.
The house is Belvedere Fort, at Sunningdale, formerly the tresid- ence of Sir Malcolm Murray, De puty Ranger of Windsor Great Park, and it is to be used as the Prince's week-end "stronghold," where he will be able to escape from his duties for a brief space. The Fort has been renovated inside and out during the Prince's ab- sence, and is now ready for use, Prince George, the Prince's youn- ger brother, is taking up his quar. ters there and a special suite is being kept for his use. Finishing touches are being put to the Prince's own apartments, which include an up-to-date fully equip ped gymnasium.
Private Aerodroma.
A novelty is the private landing ground that has been prepared close by, the house so that the Princo can arrive by aeroplane, step into his car, and drive up the special road straight to his front door..
Special arrangements are being, made in one of the rooms for the Prince to give private exhibitions of the wonderful films of lion and elephant hunts which he has taken
