BLANK WEEK-END IN THE
LEAGUE
LEADING TEAMS TO MEET ANOTHER DAY.
[DY "BACK WOOD."I
All hopes which lawn bowlers entertained for bright weather on 'Saturday to carry on their league fixtures were destroyed by the "spoil, sport," which added more water to the greens. This was the first time that all the fixtures had
to be postponed this season, but still the earlier fixtures were all com- pleted with the exception of a junior game (Taikoo . Yacht Club) in spite of rainy weather on match days. Two years ago, it is recalled, rain caused a postponement of the fixtures for three consecutive weeks,
and later on there was further interference almost to the extent of cutting out matches here and there for three or four weeks.

The two Valley Clubs are very keen rivals for senior honours this season, while Taikoó are clase be- hind them. I am rather doubtful how long Civil Service will be able to maintain their run of successes. On looking up their record, I see that three of their matches were won by Jew shots. On their own ground they beat Taikoo by three shots, turned the points in their Favour at the Bowling Green by one shot, and then sent down Kowloon Dock by six shots, In the 1929 acason Civil Service won only one watch towards the end, while they had extremely bad luck in losing three matches by six shots each and others by three, four and five shots. One defeat may possibly mean ther forerunner of many. Three years ago Kowloon Dock went through the season without a defeat. In the following year Craigenpower nearly accomplished such a frät, but for their defeat in the last match at Kowloon CC. by one shot.
