". The Lancashire County Amateur Wrestling Association and the Na- tional Amateur Wrestling Associa tion were parties to a dispute which came before Mr. Justice Lux moore in the Chancery Division last mouth. The vice president, the honorary treasurer, and the honorary secretary of the Lan. cashire County Association claim- ed against three members a declara tion that the Lancashire Associa tion had been expelled from affili- ation with the National Associa- tion, "oot in accordance with the rules, or with mtural justice.*

Mr. Laski said that the Nationa! Association originated in 1904 and the Lancashire Association October, 1923, the latter in Men. chester. Affiliation with the Na. tional Association took place An Sovetaber, 1023, and on April 22, 1927, a resolution was passed by the National Association purport- ing to expel the Lancashire Associa tion from affiliated membersihp. From the time of affiliation until expulsion. considerable disputes

arose as to the status and powers of the Lancashire Association in relation to the parent body, and. once the good offices of the late Mr. Justice Shearman were invoked 45 arbitrator to bring about a modus virendi. Unfortunately he did nos. succeed.

Lancashire Claim...

The Lancashire Association said that the notice of the meeting at which the resolution to expel was passed did not sufficiently specify the business of the meeting, and that, however reprehensible their conduct-which was not admitted— they were entitled to be given 4 proper notice of the meeting and ad opportunity of answering the charge against them. In their statement of claim they said that the han, secretary of the National Association promised. the Lan- caabire Association that on affilia- tion they would have county control over wrestling in Lancashire, and that the members would have. the right to compete in English cham- pionships for which the National Association held trophica and in trials for the selection of wrestlers for the Olympic Games.

The expulsion resolution stated that the Lancashire. Association bad' refused to recognize the authority of the National Association. It was alleged that no intimation was given to the Lancashire Association of any such charge, and that they and no opportunity of explaining or defending their conduct.

What Hollywood would do with- out Broadway it is impossible to imagine. The "Great White Way" has been filmed from above and below, front and back, and now we get a side view in "Puttin' On the Ritz," showing at

the Queen's Theatre. The hero is an acter whose head is turned by success in his profession, and puts on what is known on the English side of the Atlantic as "Swank."

This rather unpleasant failing lande him into all sorts of trouble with his friends, and we see the sad consequences of Puttin' on the Ritz "in" a series of very arous, ing incidents in, on, and around Broadway. The humorous situations are made more funny by the "wise- cracks" exchanged between Harry Richman and James Elcason, whose cross-talk humour is a constant stream of joy. The story ends on tragic note, though the senti mental side is not over-stressed.

There are some very good songs and some, excellent dancing,, while the stage scenes towards the end of the picture are most effective. All
