There is very little to choose be- tween the merits of Fair Isle, the Aga Khan's Qurrat-al-din, Lord Woolarington's Fair Dinna, and Major Dermot McCalmar'ts Queen of the Nore. Qurrat-al-Ain was": somewhat temperamental lady last year, but a big good-looking one, with a promising future.
Fair Diana was beaten by her **fair" sister at Newmarket when the ground was hard and not to her liking. Her trainer, Fred Darling, thinks her the equal of the Stanley House crack. Queen of the Nore made a smashing debut at Sandown fast year, beating Fair Diana and Qurrat-al-Am amopget others. She. was patiently handled in her first season, which should be to her ad- vantage. Being by Tetratema, she may prove deficient in staying, but good for about a mile.
