tack by a gang of men and women An extraordinary story of an at- on a junk was related to the police yesterday, apparently by part of the crew who anoceeded in camping by a dinghy and boarding another craft bound for Hong Kong.

The report stated that at about

junk No. Mer, was at Chek Shan off the New Territories load- ing sand into the vessel. A crowd of men and women, stated to be about 75 in number, armed with poles and four rifles, attacked the junk crew, six of whom were men. They tied up two of the jokis on the beach. The report also stated that about ten shots were fired at the junk prior to the attack, but no

one was hurt.

A strange feature of the report is that the informants were able to "supply the information that the attacking party belonged to Leung Kin Tai village, and they went! further to say that they attempted to make a report of the incident at Ping Shap Police Station, but the them from doing so.
