Since the sharp drop in the prices of raw silk, merchants have been very reluctant to sell. In conse quence, they have suffered consider ably. There appear to be slender prospects for a revival in the near future.

LIVERPOOL AND LONDON HAVE SHARP UPTURN

The following report by Hornby, Hemelryk & Co. dated Liverpool, March 7, has been supplied to us by Messrs. Pentreath & Co.:-

On Friday last, the Liverpool and London markets experienced quite sharp upturn of 3d. per evt. from the lowest owing to a lack of sellers rather than to a preponderance of buyers, but a sharp reaction took place on hedge selling, said to be against cargoes of Domingo sugar, with the result that a fresh low Ievel was reached.
