As a result of the recent dis- cussions relative to the provision of Sincreased public landing facilities in the neighbourhood of Yangtsze poo Road, the Shanghai Municipal Council has authorized the pur- chase of 189 mew of land sitant- ed between Yangtszepoo Road and the river for the construction of a wharf and connecting roads.
The wharf proper will cover 38,160 mow, the remainder being given over to the projected roads. Should the remaining 50 mow be in excess of the requirements of such road construction, the surplus will be retained so as to ensure a con- sitlerable reduction in the net
