PARIS BY NIGHT: A VICAR'S LETTERS TO

The Doom of Jass. The erstwhile jazz heroes ci Paris are looking about for re- munerativa occupation. They have taken hold on Paris, and like their white brothers, they don't want to go home. Everytime a new dance place opens there are scores of rhythmic jazz babies awaitin' out side the door.

Les Enfanta Terribles" opened its modern doors the other day in the Place Pigalle, and there is no reason why this cabaret should not have one of the best jazz bands in Paris because they had the pick of the whole town. They installed dark band which is doing very well, but the old car-cracking, tin- pan anuashing whoopee" is over. This dusky combination plays softer music, and plays it with grateful and heartfelt sympathy, It means cakes and rest-bills paid and laundry bills cleared off, so they can get out the cld white shirt-fronts again and look like the distinguished Southern gentlemen they are. Fashionable Birming ham, Alabam, never saw such bappy denizons, as the reinstated darksome gentry of the Place Pigalle.

Mr. Rowson then, read extracts from several letters which Mrs. Carter said had been written to her by the Rev. H. C. Parsiew, vicar of St. Paul's Church, Blackpool, The extracts were "
