HONG

KONG HOTELS, — A fairly large Lusiness was done in this stock at $12.00 and 13. They closed with sellers at the latter figure and buyers trying to get in at slightly less.

HONG KONG LANDS changed hands at 864 and are still required at this rate, there being a demand for these shares at the close of the week.

Demand for Chinese raw silk by foreign merchants ia still dis- appointing and prices are low. The average price during last month was about H.E.3010 per picul, a drop of about $30 over the preceding month. Some 70 bales of raw silk were sold to foreign merchants on Friday. The price of No. 13/13 Fine X was H.K:81,040 per bale.

There has been a healthier demand for Chinese silk piece goods and cloth, following the movement for promoting the use of Chinese goods. Another cause is the sharp rise in the prices of foreign goods owing to the exchange. Chinese cloth and linen are much.inferior to the for eign articles and until recently, they did not sell at all readily.
