for a talkic, one naturally ex-between H. M. Ships and British pects something dramatic, and the merchant vessels for the quarter picture now showing at the Queen's ended September 20, 1099, are as Theatre gives the spectator thrills

The returns show a total of 1,ass aplanty in scenes ranging from a wedding in prison to an explosion successful exercises as compared in a coal-mine. In between these ex-with 1,828 for the previous quarter i tremes the action takes place in there were failures to establish more familiar surroundings, less communication, spectacular but no less dramatic in atmosphere. Dynamite" is the first talking picture produced under the direction of De Mille, and it is well up to that famous producer's high standard. There is not a dull minute in the whole story; tensely thrilling incidents are swiftly fol lowed by lighter ones with never a moment's delay in the progress of the narrative. "Dynamite" is Ta story as powerful as the name implies, and the picture is one of the most sensational ever seen in the Colony.

The really big incident in the story is the explosion in the coal- mine-an amazingly realistic in- eident. The part of the miner hero is played by Charles Bickford, an admirable actor, who confesses that this was his first experience in. screen work, and also admits that he was rather scared when the mine "went up." Anybody who sees the picture will believe him! Bick- ford is well supported by Miss Kay Johnson, Conrad Nagel, and Misa. Julia Faye. Dynamite please all who like a strongly dramatic story, most effectively staged and excellently acted.

Norma Talmadge at Majestic. The modern version of "The Lady of the Camellias" is attract- ing crowds to the Majestic Theatre, Kowloon, Miss Talmadge's new picture is an innovation in that it Adapts a classic of the nineteenth century, known to millions through out the world, to modern ecnditions. The character of "Camille," as portrayed by Miss Talmadge, is an ultra-fashionable eiren of modern Paris, and is a radical departure

from her most recent roles. It marks also the fulfilment of her greatest screen ambition.

Camille," which was produced by Joseph M. Schenck for First National, also features a notable enst in support of Miss Talmadge, with Gilbert Roland appearing as Armand," the impulsive young lover. Foland is comparative newcomer to the screen, and his work as Armand is regarded as A promise of further interesting achievements in the future. Other are Lilyan Bupporting players Tashman, Rose Dione, Harvey Clark, Alec Francis and Helen Jerome Eddy...

Special music acompanies the picture during the 8.30 and .9.20 P.. shows,
