Heroic nurses. doctors and in- teraes rescued 166 patients includ ing a doren babies from fire which virtually destroyed St. Joseph's hospital, Providence, R.I., Tast week. So sticcessful were their efforts that no casualties whatever were recorded. In the midst of the excitement, the internes removed to a place of safety 30 tanks of nitrous oxide, which is used as an anesthe- tic. Physicians said that this amount of explosive would have been enough to destroy the entire city of Providence if the fire had reached the tanks.
