The Civil Service registered their first win for just on a year, when they defeated the Navy by four wicketa. It was, however, quite s close game The sailors started well, and Evans' leg hitting was ex. cellent. After he went, and Baker had been very prettily thrown out from Cover by Sayer, Moseley alone 33.1. did much.. Baker then proceeded to bowl very finely. He got de Romo- with his third ball and, though Richardson, and F. Baker took the 32.3 scero to 28, things looked very black for a time as Sayer fall to

the C-in-C. and MacDougal to Baker almost immediately. B. D. 29.3 Evans helped in a good stand with 31.2 Baker but both were out in quick succession. However Balfour, a new arrival, hit very pluckily, and though twenty-three were needed at 50.4 the fall of the sixth wicket, they 30.3. were obtained without further loss. There were 19 extras but it is only fair to Evans to say it was his. first experience behind the stumps. Had F. Baker been caught from a skier early on the Navy might well have won, but the ball fell between two fielders. It was a very pleasant game, though the name were most unfortunate in baving Suther and Sheffield away,

neither Major Crake nor A. H. Musson could play. All the same after skittling out the 'Varsity" for 85, they failed to get the runs in an amazing way. I was glad to see that Fry, who has been out of form for some time, has come back. His five for twelve should have, won the game for the Army. I rather fancy
o the matting wicket upset them-as
it is very tricky. Maxwell was clean bowled with a ball that never rose at all. They have had a most die appointing season and I shall be very surprised-though pleased-if they run a side next year. Sunday Games,
A rather weak combined League team had a really perfect day's cricket at the Kowloon Club ground on Sunday last. They only got 171, which was a poor score, as the 5.0.0, bowling minus Brace and Goodwin was weak. Smith is awk- I ward to get away from his peculiar delivery, but I don't think he bowl- 3 ed nearly as well as A. T. Leo 1. though he got four wickets.
The
bowling at the League was not won- derful, though it kept the Fincher brothers quieter than usual as re- gards run-getting. Zimmern played
delightfully free innings one wishes he would show that form in Interport Trials! The K.C.C. won by wickets.
