Castle Peak Road Improvements.
A notice in the Government Gazette states that tendera aro being invited for the construction of a thoroughfare on the Castle Peak Road, the section being from Cheung, Sar. Wan to Laichikok." Inquiries revealed that the present "bumpy" section leading from the foot of the hill at Laichikok Prison, near the bridge, to the railway crossing at Cheung Sar Wan vil lage, is to disappear, and a 60-foot road, over 1,000 yards long-con necting the two points in a straight

Bection. This means that the shipyards along the beach will have to be removed, as the road will cut a
most across the little bay. A stone embankment with a small parapet is also to be built. It is hoped to complete the work by about the end of the year, and when completed it should form a very good road along the waterfront. However, it is not to remain always in this state, as the projected reclamation of Sham Shui Po extends to Lai- chikok and includes the whole bar. This, however, will not be done for another twenty years!
The T.T. Offer,
Considerable interest "has been aroused amongst local motor- cyclists by the cable from the Auto Cycle Union in Lodden inviting a local representative to compete in the TT Races to be held at the Tale of Man in June. An impres- sion was gathered from the cable (given below) that the A.C.U. offer. ed, in addition to a return passage to England, a machine on which the rider was to compete.
A Daily Press representative interviewed Mr. C. P. Marcel, Secretary of the Hong Kong Auto mobile Association, in whose hands the matter is placed, who pointed out that the cable only indicates that a return passage for both man and machine is offered. The rider, therefore, must aupply his own machine. The cable was as fol- lows: Please cable if Hong Kong would like opportunity of acnding representative motor-cyclist to ride in Tourist Trophy Races mid-June il return passage man and machine provided free by us. Only cost to you would be £13 covering insurance and medical charges sus tenance when ashore.Auto Cycle Union, London," Mr. Marcel ndd- ed that the Association had not arrived at a definite decision on the matter, but a meeting would he held within the course of a few days to consider the offer. The decision will be announced in the Prese in due course.

The vibration caused by omni- buses and trucks equipped with solid instead of pacuuantic' tyres is being blamed in Buenos Aires for concrete the large number

In one case, the fall of a piece of stucco work from a build- ing in the fashionable Avenida de Mayo occasioned the death of a girl who was walking below, and in other canes minor injuries have been sustained by passers-by. The city authorities are faced with problem which they are likely to solve by prohibiting the solid tyre, since it is impossible to employ the army of officials which would be necessary to insure inspection of the enormous number of stocco decorations which adorn the houses of Buenos Aires, especially those. built comparatively recently when good taste scorned the simplicity ruling to-day,
Dangerous Fumes.
Discussing his. discovery of a catalyst which transforms carbon monoxide into harmless carbon dioxide, Dr. Fraser, Professor of Chemistry
at Johnn Hopkins University, made it plain that it will be some time before motorists are entirely safeguarded against death by carbon monoxide, the gas generated by automobiles. "I do not want to create the impression that the device is ready to go on the market. Of course, the catalyst

In an attempt to relieve the con- gestion, caused by ears parked in the streets of Paris, supplementary regulations have recently been in- troduced by the police, which make it an offence to park a car at any place not set apart for the purpose.
