PAYING FOR ERROR.
PERAK TURF CLUB SENDS OUT CHEQUES.
PENANG, Jan. 17. As the result of interfering with weights, the Perak Turf Club has paid the penalty of paying out etakes plus added money on three horses which did not win.
A note of explanation of the blunder made in connection with the Perak Turf Club amateur races in December, regarding the bendi- cappers weights, was published the next day. The secretary officially
informed everybody that all weights had been reduced by seven pounds.
This was done because, it is stated, there are a lot of gentle, men lightweight riders in Ipoh." The secretary, of course, was acting on the instructions of the com- mittee.
The trainer, T. C. Thompson, was the only trainer who adhered to the original weights given by the handicapper, at the same time pro- testing at the other weights being reduced. Subecquently the owners of Master Reggie, Bonnie King and The Miser put in claims and all three have now received cheques from the Perak Turf Club.
