Chinese as well as Europeang paid tribute yesterday to the passing of a very gallant gentleman when the gun carriage bearing the body of Mr. K. A. Woodward, the late Third Oficer of the Douglas 5.5. Haiching, was drawn by bluejackets from the Royal Naval Dockyard to the Cemetery at Happy Valley.

His Excellency the Governor was represented by his A.D.C.. Capt. Slitee, R.M. Prominent members of the Legislative Coun. cil who attended wore the Colonial Secrtary (the Hon. Mr. W. T. Southpra, G.M.G.), the Attorney-General (Sir Joseph Kemp, K.C.), the Hon. Sir Henry Pollock, K.O., the Hon. Mr. W. E. L. Shenton, the Hon. Mr. J. P. Braga, the Hon, Mr. Owen Hughes, the Hon. Mr. H. T. Creasy. Others present included Capt. T. T. Laurensen, Lieut. Comdr, Sims (H.M.S. Sterling), the Captain and Comman- der of H.M.S. Kent, Commodora E. A. S. Hill, Mr. Mansini, Staff Capt. B.
