Government sales in seven pro- vinces as reported by the provincial liquor control boards had a gross value of $107,694,384 for the fiscal years ended in 1928, including $2,562,867 for the province of New $4.70 Brunswick which appeared in the figures or the first time. Sales in fiscal years ended 1927 in six pros vinces aggregated 872,721,713, and included Ontoric for five months only at $17,533,936. Five provinces for the 1028 periods had sales of $48,270,282.

The 1928 total of $107,604,384 in- cludes sales in Ontario aggregating 949,995,501: Quebec, $24,999.624; British Columbia, 813,056.910: Sas- katchewan, 11,709,534; Manitoba, $2,095,000; New Brunswick, $3,302,307; and Alberta. (3 months), $1,256,353.

Excess of Imports. The excess of imports over ex- ports in the fiscal year ended March 31, 1020, amounted in value 14 $10,532,775. Canada imported 2,004,769 gallons of spirits, 242,100 gallons of malt liquors and 1,334,873 gallons of wines, the total import Bill amounting to 848,844,111. The exports included 2,280,543 gallons of domestic spirits. 245,185 gallons $18.40 of foreign spirits, 4,110,603 gallons $16.10

to $40,803,201 compared with 833,837,122 in the previous year, $31,203,196 in 1926 and a low incr 1913 of 88,522,193 in the fiscal year, $12.90 110. The increasing revenues re- flect partly increased consumption and partly increased taxes, 'says the report.
