SHANGHAI'S BAD DAY.
Miss Lo's Victory,
HONG KONG WIN TENNISadies' interport for Hong Kong.
INTERPORTS.
After a strenuous and spirited match, which was featured by hard driving on both sides, S. A. Rum jahn defeated . L. Wade at the Kowloon Cricket Clai courts yes terday afternoon in the deciding match of the interport series, Hong Kong winning by, three points to two. Scores of the match were 08, 7-5, 3-4, 6-0, 6-1 Hong Kong also won the ladies' interport by four matches to one, leaving Shanghai without winning & point yesterday.
Results of matches yesterday whe:-Mrs. Tottenham and Kiss Enid La defeated, Miss Crawford and Miss Firth, 6-4, 6-3; Handa de- fated Paul. Kong, 6-2, 6-3, 7-5.
Lo Miss Erid
defeated Stafford Smith, 6-0, 6-0.
In the morning's matches, Mrs. Tottenham and Miss Enid Lo, over- eame Miss Crawford and Misa Firth by 6-4, 6-3, clinching the
with one more match to play. Fol lowing this "match Honda (third singles) did well to defeat Paul Kong, 6-2, 6-3, 7-5, and making the score in the men's interport.
The fadies' doubles was mainly a driving duel, with all four shin lug alternately. There was com- paratively little volleying, so that
THE HONG KONG DAILY PRESS, MONDAY, NOVEMBE
irs. Tottenham and Miss Lo, by their superior driving, came out victorious without the loss of a set. Most of the games went to deuce, however, and points were generally won only after more than half a dozen exchanges. In service the Hong Kong players did not have the visitors any advantage over and this also applied to volleying as a whole. The only difference be tween the two pairs was that Mra Tottenham and Miss Lo generally succeeded in putting more ating into their drives. Miss Crawford was the more reliable of the visitors, but Miss Firth was better at volley- Mrs.ing.
The contest between' Rumjalin and Wade was by far the most interest ing tie in the men's singles. It was exciting all through, as the result of the Interport reated on the out- ceme and also because the rallies Rumjan rightly de: were, loag. served his victory for he employed the right tactics against Wade, who was in excellent driving form. Is fact. Wade was at the top of his season's play. He hit hard right from the start of the second set, but it seemed to the spectators that he could not last the pace if the match went to the full five sets, and this opinion was justified for in the final stanza Rumjahn had enough in resorve to win the match.

The Glasgow Rangers shared the paints with Clyde, and Aber- deen regained the leading position they lost the previous week.
Results of matches as cabled by Reuter and revised League tables follow: -.
A Kean Match, Speculation was rife "when Paul "Rong and Honda went on the court to contest the third singles. Kong had made a good impression in the second doubles, and as his drive was in good working order many thought that he could come out one better than Honda in a singles match, but latter Birmingham... promptly dispelled this illusion. Blackburn for he not only outstandied but Grimsby outdrove his opponent. Kong made the mistake of trying to beat Honda at his own game and also did not make as full a use of his backhand cut as he might have done.. How ever, he put up a good show.
the
At the start of the match, the Hong Kong player aced Kong twice and although the latter took the next, Honda was superior in the re- maining six games, taking five to win the set at -2 Kong fought determinedly in the third frame and drew ahead at 4-3 but Honda, steadying himself, took the next two for a 5 lead and eventually came out the winner 7-3.

A Clever Player. Rumjahn's cxhibition in the first sel, when he went down by a love score was far from assuring owing to his erratic play, but when he got warmed up in the second stanza and was more like his usual self the hopes of his supporters soared.
