The Society finished the year 1928 with a balance in hand of just over $1,000 and their expenditure during the year was, in round numbers $13,000. THE REPORT.

Under the head of Education the. Society spent during the nine months January to September,, 1929, 8213 for books and stationery, and $36 on tram, us and ferry fares for poor children living at a distance from school.

During the same period the ex- penditure on tuition or board and tuition for poor children in English schools was 81,262,60.
