CANTON, October 11.
Mr. T. V. Soong, Minister of Finance of the Central Govern- nient, states in a dispatch to Mr.
Chow Min Chu, Managing Director of the Central Bank of China in Canton, that he will make another trip to Canton before the end of this month. His mission will be to straighten, up the Boances of the Province and to make arrange- ments for placing the Canton Bank under the direct control of Nan- king It will be remembered that this was decided upon. when the Finance Minister was here the lust time. But owing to various reasons, the transference of control of the Bank has not been carried out. Mr. Soong is of the opinion that, if China is to have a unified financial system, this must be done sooner or
later.

INQUEST.
VERDICT OF MISADVEN-
TURE RETURNED..
An inquest was held at the Kow. Joon Magistracy yesterday into the death of a young Chinese who was drowned during a bathing picnic at Saiwanho Bay on Septem bar . Mr. T. S. Whyte Smith sat as Coroner assisted by a jury.
Outlining the facts the Coroner aid that the deceased had attend. ed a launch picnic held by the St. Joseph's College Division of the
St. John's Ambulance Brigade. There was little doubt that the de- reased ract his death by drowning, but it was for the jury to decide whether reasonable precautions were taken to protect non-swimmers of the party.

Arrangements for Non-Swimmers.
Mr. Edward Cheung, resident at St. Joseph's Colege, said that he was in charge of the St. Joseph's College. Division of the St. John's Ambulance Brigade. There were 33 boys in the picnic party at which the deceased, Chan Kwok Hey, lost his life. About 8 or 10 could not swim and before arriving he order ed them to take the sampan astore.
