THE SHANGHAI SIDE DISCUSSED,

The game on the H.K.C.C, ground on "Saturday last taught us very little more as regards the probable personnel of the Interport side next November. I have always said that Parker was about the best bowler remaining in the Colony after Wales

runs apiece. At one time indeed he had seven for less than four runs

Dark Horses,

As at present advised there are only two rumoured dark horses of whom I know nothing. Richardson of the C.S.C.C., has a big reputu tion, while Lieut.-Col. At the close of. the match with Craigfhgower team, Mr. Malcolm announced that he would skip the tean, as apparently Mr. Dorrance who would have been asked to act us skip preferred not to shoulder the responsibitics. MOTOR-COACH "DITCHED,

WHEEL COMES STEERING

OFF IN DRIVER'S HAND.

A remarkable case in which it was stated that the steering wheel of a motor-coach twice came off in the bands of the driver was heard at Southend Police Court when William Herbert Kiddy, of Central- avenue, Southend, was fined £5, with 14s. costa, for failing to have fittings on a motor car so as not to cause danger to the pas sengers.

Superintendent Crockford said the steering wheel came off in Kid- dy's hands as he was driving to- wards Shoebury. He replaced it, and passed a remark that he had lost a nut from it, that morning. The steering wheel came off again later, and the motor-coach ran into a ditch. The passengers were thrown out, and although not hurt, they were badly shaken.

The mayor (Councillor R. Thurlow Baker), chairman of the Bench, said a defective steering wheel endangered the life of every passenger.
