QUEEN'S THEATRE ORGAN.
[TO THE EDITOR OF THE "HONG KONG DAILY PRESS."]
SIR-I have been informed that the management of Queen's Theatre has decided to discontinue using the organ during the programme.
The organ has now become a feature in all leading cinemas and has been proved preferable for ac companying, pictures to A small orchestra, struggling along, tack- ling compositions to which it can- not do justice.
Now this is where the organ stands out for it can give us the (ull harmony also it can give the variety, by means of its stops, the saine as ean the full orchestra.
It is true the organ here is nothing in comparison to those used in America, but it would be useless to instal one of those large organs in the Queen's.
The Queen's organ has a nice soft tone and I have often wondered why the management has not been more enterprising and included some organ recitals in their pro graining. As the organ is the king
of all musical instrumente let us hope that we will hear more of it.
Also why does not Hong Kong Amusements pay more attention to music at the Star and World Thea-" tres as the music supplied for these theatres leave much to be desired.
In Hong Kong the only orches tras other than dance bands are in the cinemas, and it is up to Hong Kong Amusements to give us the best and I am sure people will show. their appreciation.Yours, etei,
