WILL SOUTH CHINA A.A. "REGAIN THE SHIELD?

GOOD PITCHING GIVES CHINESE WIN OVER

*PHILLIES.

KIAORAS LOSE TO JAPANESE.

The South China Athletic Association further enhanced their chances of recapturing the championship by scoring a 3-2 win over the Filipino boys at the Navy Field on Saturday. A huge crowd turned out to watch the game and the spectators were treated to a delightful exhibition of clever pitching by Eddle Chang who was dishing them out in great style., The Filipinos put up a hard fight but with the Chinese folders all on their toes, they could only gather two runs.

"

The other game decided over the week-end was the Japansze- Klaora affair and it turned-out to be a very closely contested game, with the Japanese eventually winning 9-8.

He got to second on Davey Leonard's sacrifice and worked his way home to tie the score--1-1. However, the Chinese objected to "parity" and scored. another single through K. C. Fang.

That was how things stood for the Chinese lads, with the result that they gathered four markers in this inning, C. C. Leung, T. Chinn, Wong and Ler all crossing the plate. Another run in the next frame put them 7-2 up and things looked pretty cloudy for the Japanese. However, they made an aggressive effort to even things up in the fourth inning, and they only failed by one run as Hachiuma, Murata, Kogs (who made & two bagger) and Hayase all crossed the rubber to make the score 7-8 in favour of Tom Chinn's crew.

Comments.

Although the game was a close affair the play was not of a very high standard. Fielders on both sides committed several errors and neither pitcher can boast of having anything really wicked. The Japan- cac-ns a team-all went up in the air in the first few innings when they were playing an up-hill game, The Chinese, fully deserved their and the "razzing" of the spectators win and it was due more to little seemed to rattle than very easily. Unless they improve a lot in the Eddie than anybody else that they hear future it is feared that they carried the day. He pitched a will have to take third place to the great game and had capital support Chinese and Filipino sides. from brother Mat and the rest of the side. For the lasers, Alvares did good work in the box but their batting was not up to their usual standard. It appears that "Johnny" tires too easily-five innings seems about his limit and if Old Man Rull *ean trot out another guy to send 'em across from the beginning of the sixth stanza in their Inture games they might do better.
