At the inquest at Hammersmith on George James Haynes, 40, general labourer of Myrtle-road, Action, it was stated that he was standing on the end of a sleeper in the road when a heavily-loaded mo- tor lorry drove over the other end. Hayacs was hurled twelve feet into the air, turned a somersault, and landed on his head. He was pick- ed up appearently uninjured and walked across the road, but died in hospital later.
"He must have been flung into the air as if from a diving board," commented the coroner (Mr. H. R. Oswald).
